MDHHS Programs and Services

PATH: Partnership. Accountability. Training. Hope

Temporary financial assistance is available for low-income families and pregnant women. Applicants participate in a program called PATH: Partnership. Accountability. Training. Hope. It includes a 21-day assessment revealing employment barriers. Then caseworkers with individuals to overcome these barriers.

Weatherization Assistance Program

The Weatherization Assistance Program offers immediate help to low-income residents in situations that threaten their health or safety, including:

  1. Home repairs
  2. Relocation
  3. Home energy
  4. Home ownership
  5. Hear and utility bills
  6. Burials

The Food Assistance Program

The Food Assistance Program is available for able-bodied adults who work at least 20 hours a week on average, participate in an Education and Training program 20 hours a week, or are actively involved in community service.

Medicaid

Medicaid is a complete healthcare program for low-income adults and children. It covers a wide range of medical services, including:

  1. Ambulance
  2. Dental
  3. Hospice care
  4. Emergency services
  5. Home health care
  6. Medical supplies
  7. Nursing home care
  8. Substance use disorder treatment
  9. Immunizations
  10. Vision
  11. Surgery
  12. Yearly health exam

Some services need prior approval, and eligible participants may be required to pay a small co-pay.

Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP)

MIHP performs home visits for new and expecting mothers, and infants up to 12 months old to help them learn how to keep themselves and their babies healthy.

Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE)

Most PACE participants, who must be 55 years of age or older, are able to continue living at home while they receive specialized health services.

The LIHWAP is a temporary emergency program that aims to help low-income families afford to pay for their water and wastewater.

TheRefugee Assistance Program

The Refugee Assistance Program helps refugees take care of their own needs after arriving in the country. It's available to refugees who are ineligible for Medicaid, Cash Assistance, or Supplemental Security Income.
